Bocchi the Rock! Prequel Movie ‘Hoshi no Ashiato’ Announced for 2027 Theatrical Release
A new anime feature film titled Eiga Bocchi the Rock! Hoshi no Ashiato will premiere in Japanese theaters in 2027, as officially announced via a teaser trailer. The theatrical project expands the animated adaptation of Aki Hamaji’s four-panel music manga.
A Prequel Exploring the Ijichi Sisters
Rather than following the ongoing story of Kessoku Band in the present timeline, the newly announced feature will serve as a prequel. According to Anime Trending, the film centers on the shared past of sisters Seika Ijichi and Nijika Ijichi.
The narrative adapts the special prequel chapter published at the end of Volume 5 of Aki Hamaji’s original manga, exploring the background and relationship between the live house manager and the young drummer before the formation of the core band.
Returning Creative Staff and Voice Cast
Animation studio CloverWorks is handling production for the film, as detailed by Animehunch. Shin Wakabayashi is directing the feature, with Erika Yoshida writing the screenplay and Yukiko Horiguchi providing the character designs.
The voice cast members are confirmed to reprise their roles from the television series:
- Maaya Uchida as Seika Ijichi
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Nijika Ijichi
The film is scheduled to open across Japanese theaters in 2027.
